Professional Install Settings

Professional Install settings are available for AFC and for external antennas. The settings that display depend on the selected AP:

AP Settings for AFC

Configure the following AP settings for AFC.
  1. Go to Configure > Devices > Access Points.
  2. Select an AP model that is configured for AFC.

SettingDescription
Floor NameDetermines the name of the floor.
Floor Height Above GroundFloor height in meters from the ground. This measurement takes into account the floor height on each floor of a multi-floor building.
Floor Height Above Ground UncertaintyAllowable measurement error for the Above Ground measurement. FCC requirement is to provide a height measurement with 95% confidence.
Floor Settings OverrideCheck this box to override the AP settings defined on the floor plan.
AP Height Above FloorFloor height in meters from the floor. This is the height of a floor in a multi-floor building.
AP Height Above Floor UncertaintyAllowable measurement error for the Above Floor measurement. FCC requirement is to provide a height measurement with 95% confidence.
Anchor APIndicates that the AP is an anchor AP. The AP5050 is the supported anchor AP.

External Antennas

To configure external antennas on an AP, add the AP to a valid device group. Then configure the antennas:
  1. Go to Configure > Devices > Access Points.
  2. Select an AP model that offers configurable antennas.
    Note

    Note

Professional Install is offered on AP models with external antennas and on AP models that have internal selectable antennas. The AP must be a member of a valid device group.
  3. Select Professional Install.
The fields and corresponding antenna value options on the Professional Install dialog depend on the selected AP and the antenna models that are available. Select an antenna for each available port. By default, the two antennas must be identical. However, you have the option to select No Antenna for the second antenna port. Select the antenna model from the drop-down field. Choose the desired attenuation for each radio from the drop-down list. Selectable range is from 0 to 30 dBI. Additionally, the AP3915e, AP3917e, and AP510e access point models offer an external IoT antenna.
Note

Note

Single-band antennas limit the AP operation to the radio that is associated with the antenna and reduce the sensor functionality of the IoT sensor radio.
