IPv6 Maximum Transmission Unit

The IPv6 maximum transmission unit (MTU) is the maximum length of an IPv6 packet that can be transmitted on an interface.

If an IPv6 packet is longer than an MTU, the host that originated the packet fragments the packet and transmits its contents in multiple packets that are shorter than the MTU.

The hardware supports three MTU profiles: the default value of 1500 and two user-defined values. If the limit is reached, the following error is displayed:
%Error: Maximum limit of allowed different IP MTUs reached.

The hardware supports one MTU value at the interface.
