Summit X670G2-48x-4q Stack Configuration Guidelines
Before deploying a new stack with Summit X670G2-48x-4q switches, consider the following
guidelines:
- In a stack that contains Summit X670G2-48x-4q switches and other Summit switch models, a
Summit X670G2-48x-4q switch might provide more memory and more features than other Summit switch
models, and this affects master node selection, backup node selection, and failover operation.
Before configuring a stack with Summit X670G2-48x-4q switches and other Summit switch models,
review Configuring the Master, Backup, and Standby Roles.
- To use the failover feature in the stack, a second Summit X670G2-48x-4q is recommended, and
it must be the backup node.
- Only the master and master-capable nodes require a license to support special features such
as MPLS.
- If the MPLS feature pack is installed on the master-capable nodes, the following guidelines
apply:
- Each stack switch must meet the software and hardware requirements listed in the Feature
License Requirements document.
- Only enhanced stacking protocol is supported on X670G2-48x-4q and same protocol should be
configured on each Summit family switch in X670G2 stack.
- Although you can mix Summit X460, X480, X670, X460G2 and X770 switches in a stack, we
recommend that you do not mix these switch types.
- Summit X670-G2-48x-4q supports the LR4 Parallel Single Mode (PSM) Optical Transceiver on
40G optical QSFP+ ports. Running in 4 x10g mode allows you to have 4 independent transmit and
receive channels, each capable of 10Gbps operation over a 10km single mode fiber hydra MPO to
4xLC duplex patch cord terminated with standard 10G LR SFP+ Optical transceivers.
- Summit X670G2-48x-4q ports 49,53,57 and 61 used for 320G stacking
- Summit X670G2-48x-4q ports 57 and 61 used for 160G stacking
- Summit X670G2-48x-4q ports 57 and 61 used for 80G stacking
- Summit X670G2-48x-4q switches support multiple types of QSFP+ stacking cables for
connection between X670G2 and QSFP+ ports on other Summit switches.
