BFD over MCT and VxLAN

A BFD session between a client and an MCT (multi-chassis trunking) node is established over a directly connected Cluster Client Edge Port (CCEP) link or over an inter-chassis link (VxLAN).

Bidirectional Forwarding Detection over MCT and VxLAN is supported only for SLX 9150 and SLX 9250.

Data flows between client 1 and MCT 1, client 2 and MCT 1, client 1 and MCT2, client 2 and MCT2, and, over ICL or VxLAN, between MCT1 and MCT 2
BFD sessions that are configured on a CCEP interface on an MCT node are software-based only.

Note

BFD sessions that are configured on a CEP interface on an MCT node are hardware-based. Use the BFD engine to transmit the sessions.
