neighbor update-source

Configures the BGP device to communicate with a neighbor through a specified interface.

Syntax

neighbor { ip-address | ipv6-address | peer-group-name } update-source { ip-address-u-s | ipv6-address-u-s | ethernet slot / port | loopback num| ve-interface vlan_id }
no neighbor { ip-address | ipv6-address | peer-group-name } update-source { ip-address-u-s | ipv6-address-u-s | ethernet slot / port | loopback num| ve-interface vlan_id }

Command Default

Disabled.

Parameters

ip-address
IPv4 address of the neighbor
ipv6-address
IPv6 address of the neighbor
peer-group-name
Peer group name configured by the neighbor peer-group-name command.
ip-address-u-s
IP address of the update source.
ipv6-address-u-s
IPv6 address of the update source.
ethernet
Specifies an ethernet interface.
slot
Specifies a valid slot number. For devices that do not support line cards, specify 0.
port
Specifies a valid port number.
loopback num
Specifies a loopback interface.
ve-interface vlan_id
Specifies a virtual Ethernet VLAN interface.

Modes

BGP configuration mode

BGP address-family IPv4 unicast VRF configuration mode

BGP address-family IPv6 unicast VRF configuration mode

Usage Guidelines

Use the no form of the command to restore the defaults.

Examples

The following example configures the device to communicate with a neighbor through the specified IPv4 address and Ethernet interface 3/2.

device#(config)# router bgp
device(config-bgp-router)# neighbor 10.11.12.13 update-source ethernet 3/2 

The following example configures the device to communicate with a neighbor through the specified IPv6 address.

SLX (config)# router bgp
SLX (config-bgp-router)# neighbor pg1 update-source 11:11::2
