ExtremeXOS Switch Management Overview
This chapter describes how to use the operating system to manage the switch. It also
provides details on how to perform the following various basic switch functions:
- Access the command line interface (CLI) by
connecting a terminal (or workstation with terminal-emulation software) to the

CLI is limited for 4000 Series devices. See the

Guide for this version of Switch Engine for detailed information on
the available commands.
- Access the switch remotely using TCP/IP through one of the switch

management port. Remote access includes:
- Telnet using the CLI interface
- Secure Shell (SSH2) using the CLI interface
- SNMP access using an SNMP manager
