Configure DvR-VRRP Coexistence
Note
This procedure does not apply to 5320 Series or 5420 Series.
When a Layer 2 Virtual Service Network (VSN) extends outside of the Distributed Virtual Routing (DvR) domain, DvR Controllers can route traffic that enters on the network-to-network interface (NNI) by using Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP).
Before you begin
The VLAN must be a DvR VLAN. A DvR VLAN is a VLAN configured on a DvR Controller with a VLAN IP address, a VLAN I-SID, the DvR gateway IP address, and DvR enabled.
About this task
If you enable this functionality, the switch automatically creates a VRRPv2 interface with the virtual router ID (VRID) 37 and a holddown-timer configuration of 60 on the DvR VLAN that you identify for VRRP election. You can configure one VLAN for election.
Procedure
- In the navigation pane, expand .
- Select VLANs.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- For DvrVrrpElection, select true to select the election VLAN for DvR VRRP.
- Select Apply.
- In the navigation pane, expand .
- Select DVR.
- Select the Globals tab.
- Optional: For VrrpPriority, configure the DvR VRRP priority for the elected VLAN.
- Select VrrpEnable to enable VRRP on all DvR Service Instance Identifiers (I-SIDs).
- Select Apply.
Globals Field Descriptions
Use the data in the following table to use the Globals tab.
Field |
Descriptions |
---|---|
DomainId |
Identifies the domain that the node belongs to. The range for a Controller or a Leaf is 1 to 255. Set to 0 if is not configured. |
Role |
Specifies the role of the node in the domain as one of the following:
|
Enable |
Specifies whether Distributed Virtual Routing (DvR) is enabled on the node. Configuring a Controller or Leaf sets this parameter to true. |
DomainIsid |
Uniquely identifies the domain I-SID that the node belongs to. 0 indicates that is not configured. |
BackboneIsid |
Uniquely identifies the backbone I-SID that the node belongs to. The valid backbone I-SID is 16678216; it is configured to 0 if is not configured. |
GatewayMac |
Specifies the Gateway MAC address used by all domains. |
InbandMgmtIp |
Specifies the In-band Management IP address configured under IS-IS. You can use this IP address to manage the node, irrespective of whether DvR is enabled on it. |
InjectDefaultRouteDisable |
Specifies whether injection of default routes is disabled on the Controller in the domain. By default, Controllers inject default routes into the domain so that all Leaf nodes in the domain learn these routes with the next hop as the Controller that advertised it. Selecting this field disables this behavior. |
VirtualIstLocalAddr |
Specifies the local IP address of vIST, if vIST is configured on a Leaf. You cannot configure vIST cannot on a Controller. |
VirtualIstLocalMask |
Specifies the local subnet mask of vIST, if vIST is configured on a Leaf. You cannot configure vIST on a Controller. |
VirtualIstPeerAddr |
Specifies the peer IP address of vIST, if vIST is configured on a Leaf. You cannot configure vIST on a Controller. |
VirtualIstClusterId |
Specifies the cluster ID of vIST, if vIST is configured on a Leaf. You cannot configure vIST on a Controller. Set to 0 if vIST is not configured. |
VirtuaIIstIsid |
Specifies the I-SID if vIST is configured. |
OperState |
Specifies the operational state of the node. |
VrrpEnable Note:
Exception: not supported on 5320 Series or 5420 Series. |
Enables Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) advertisements on DvR VLAN Service Instance Identifiers (I-SIDs). The default value is disabled. |
VrrpPriority Note:
Exception: not supported on 5320 Series or 5420 Series. |
Configures the VRRP priority for the elected VLAN and associated I-SID. Switches advertise their priority to use in the primary router election process. When multiple Controllers elect the same DvR VLAN and I-SID, the Controller with the higher priority becomes the primary router. The elected Controller sends VRRP advertisements on all DvR VLANs. The default value is 100. |
VrrpElectionVlanId Note:
Exception: not supported on 5320 Series or 5420 Series. |
Displays the election VLAN for VRRP on DvR I-SIDs. A value of 4095 indicates no elected VLAN exists. |
