Enable Equal Cost MultiPath (ECMP) to permit routers to determine up to eight equal-cost paths to the same destination prefix. You can use the multiple paths for load-sharing of traffic, which allows fast convergence to alternative paths. By maximizing load sharing among equal-cost paths, you can maximize the efficiency of links between routers.
To perform this procedure on a non-default VRF, you must first change the VRF instance. For information about how to use EDM for a non-default VRF, see Select and Launch a VRF Context View. All parameters might not be available in non-default VRFs.
To configure an ECMP pathlist, you must first configure a prefix list that you reference in the pathlist configuration.
Different hardware platforms can support a different number of ECMP paths. For more information, see Fabric Engine Release Notes.
