HAL.Stacking.BkupNodeMisCfg

Description

The following recommendations should be followed if a more powerful and capable SummitX stackable switch is part of the SummitStack configuration: 1) One of the most powerful switches must be the Master node of a SummitStack. 2) One of the most powerful switches must be the Backup node of a SummitStack. 3) To use the failover feature offered by SummitStack architecture, the user must have at least 2 more and equally powerful switches configured in the stack as Master and Backup nodes.

Remedy

Configure the stacking parameters to allow the most powerful and capable nodes in the stack to become the Master and Backup nodes. This may be done by changing the master-capability, the priorty, or both of those stacking parameters for one or more stack nodes. If there is not a node already in the stack that is as powerful and capable as the Master node, then an equivalent switch should be added to the stack and configured master-capable so as to become the Backup stack node.

Severity

Warning

Message Text

The Backup stack node is not as powerful or as capable as the Master stack node. This configuration is not recommended for successful use of the failover feature.
