NTP.Sys.DtectClockStep

Description

Since the system time is outside the step threshold (default: 128 ms), the clock is stepped. The clock step event is dependent on whether the frequency is set from frequency file or initialized without information from frequency file. When the frequency is set from file, the clock step happens immediately, without waiting for the stepout interval(default: 15 minutes). However, when kernel frequency information is not available, the clock step happens after stepout interval (default: 15 minutes). After step adjustment, the clock discipline algorithm of NTP starts over again, requiring another round of at least four messages as before. If the system time is below the step threshold, NTP gradually slews the clock to the nominal time. Clock step event occurs as the result of restarting the NTP process, manual time changes, or system failures.

Remedy

Check whether the NTP process was restarted before the clock step event. If this event happens continuously without restarting NTP process events, please contact technical support with the following information: "show tech".
