HAL.IPv6Mc.L3TblFull

Description

A hash bucket in the L3 table has been exceeded and at least one IPv6 multicast (S,G) forwarding entry could not be added to the hardware. The L3 table is shared by IPv4/v6 multicast and IPv4/v6 unicast host entries. Any (S,G) multicast streams without an associated hardware forwarding entry will be slowpath forwarded. This message will be logged at most 1 time per hour while new (S,G) forwarding entries trigger this condition.

Remedy

"debug hal show forwarding distributions" can be used to view hash bucket distributions for the available hashing algorithms. "show forwarding configuration" will display the configured and currently running hash algorithm. In order to change the algorithm, use "configure forwarding hash-algorithm [crc16 | crc32]". A system reboot is required for this command to take effect. An associated debug-summary level message "HAL.IPv4Mc.L3TblFullEnt" can be enabled to view per-occurrence details including (S,G) and vlan information. In addition, "debug hal show ipv4mc" can be used to determine which (S,G) forwarding entries were not added to hardware. Any entry in this display with "IPMC -1" is not currently programmed in hardware.
