HAL.VLAN.PVLANL2TblFull

Description

At least one PVLAN or VLAN translation related MAC FDB entry could not be added because the hardware table is full. The hardware table is organized as a hash table so it is possible that there is still room for other MAC FDB entries that hash to different hash bucket locations. This message will be logged at most one time per hour while new FDB forwarding entries trigger this condition. A more detailed message for each occurence can be seen by enabling the PVLANL2TblFullEnt debug summary message.

Remedy

If the network has exceeded the FDB resources available in the hardware, traffic will continue to flow, but it will be broadcast traffic. If this is not a transient condition, consider systems that have a larger hardware table size. If this is a transient condition, the L2 traffic will still be forwarded using L2 broadcast until the hardware table has enough space for the new MAC to be programmed. PVLANs and VLAN translation require more FDB entries than a regular VLAN, so this should be factored into the network design. Please see the technical publications for details on the increased FDB requirements for PVLANs and VLAN translation.
