ip route (for a VRF)

Configure a static route for a VRF. Use this command to:

Command Parameters

{A.B.C.D} {A.B.C.D} {A.B.C.D}
Specifies the IP address, subnet mask, and next-hop address for the route. The first {A.B.C.D} configures the destination IP address of this route. An entry with a value of 0.0.0.0 is the default route. Multiple routes to a single destination can appear in the table, but access to such multiple entries depends on the network management protocol table access mechanisms. The second {A.B.C.D} configures the route network mask with the destination address before the switch compares the mask to the destination value. The third {A.B.C.D} configures the IP address of the next hop of this route. In the case of a route bound to an interface realized through a broadcast media, the value of this box is the agent IP address on that interface.
<1-255>
Indicates the route preference of this entry. If you can use more than one route to forward IP traffic, the switch uses the route with the highest preference. The higher the number, the higher the preference.
<1-65535>
Specifies the static route cost.

Do not configure a static interface subnet route with a weight of 1.

WORD<0-16>
Specifies the VRF ID in inter-VRF static-route configuration.
name WORD<0-64>
Specifies the name associated with the static route.

This command does not apply to all hardware platforms.

Usage Guidelines

The name parameter is not supported on VSP 8600 Series.

VSP 8600 Series uses the routing stack to create static routes for data traffic as well as management purposes. For all other platforms, static routes for the management OOB and management VLAN, if supported, must use the Segmented Management Instance. For more information, see VOSS User Guide. The management CLIP can use the Segmented Management Instance or routes in the associated VRF routing table manager (RTM).
