Configuring PoE

PoE (Power over Ethernet) supports a full set of configuration and monitoring commands that allows you to configure, manage, and display PoE settings at the system, slot, and port level. To enable inline power, or PoE, you must have a powered switch.

To configure inline power, or PoE, you must accomplish the following tasks:

  1. Enable inline power to the system, slot, and/or port.
  2. On Summit X450-G2, X440-G2, and X460-G2 switches, configure the disconnect precedence for the PDs in the case of excessive power demands.
  3. Configure the threshold for initiating system alarms on power usage.

Additionally, you can configure the switch to use legacy PDs, apply specified PoE limits to ports, apply labels to PoE ports, and configure the switch to allow you to reset a PD without losing its power allocation.

For complete information on using the CLI commands, see the ExtremeXOS 22.6 Command Reference Guide.
