VXLAN to Non-VXLAN Routing in a Non-AutoBGP Network

ExtremeXOS 22.4 and later allow the IP Forwarding flag to be set for VLAN (Virtual LAN) interfaces with a VXLAN (Virtual Extensible LAN) association for IPv4 traffic. This qualifies ExtremeSwitching and Summit X670-G2 and X770 series switches, which support VXLAN, but do not support routing in-and-out of tunnels (RIOT) (see Routing in and out of Tunnels (RIOT)), nor IP fabric.

For example, aa ExtremeSwitching and Summit X670-G2 series switch may use VXLAN over an OSPF (Open Shortest Path First)-based underlay. It is possible a remote destination network is learned by OSPF on one of its underlay VLAN interfaces that has no VXLAN association. While the CLI allows this setup, this is not a validated design and is therefore not recommended.
