EAPS Protocol Overview

The EAPS (Extreme Automatic Protection Switching) protocol provides fast protection switching to Layer 2 switches interconnected in an Ethernet ring topology, such as a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) or large campus (see Gigabit Ethernet Fiber EAPS MAN Ring).
