Replacing a Node with a Different Switch Type
When you replace a node with a different switch type, you cannot
continue to use the same stack configuration. The slot configuration for the replaced node
must change to reflect the new switch type.
To
replace a node with a different switch type, follow these steps:
-
Use the show
switch, show licenses, and show stacking configuration commands to display
configuration information for the node to be replaced.
Note the following about the node you are
replacing:
- ExtremeXOS software version
- Partition on which the switch is booted
- Effective license level for the stack
- Slot number
- Master-capable feature configuration
- Node priority
- Alternate gateway IP address
-
Enter the unconfigure slot slot
command to remove the configuration for the node to be replaced.
All configuration parameters (except for the
related node's NVRAM-based configurations such as stacking parameters, image to be used,
and failsafe account) for the slot are erased.
-
Remove the stacking cables from the node that is being
replaced.
-
Add the new node to the stack following the procedure in
Manually Adding Nodes to a Stack.
