MPLS Pseudowires

MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) pseudowire (PW) tunnels are logical connections between two LERs over an LSP.

LDP Pseudowires are signaled based on the configured PW identifier (pwid). The signaled PW label is used to create a two-label-stack shim header on PW encapsulated packets. The outer label is the transport LSP label obtained from LDP or RSVP-TE and the inner label is the signaled PW label. LERs also signal the PW type when attempting to establish a PW. The ExtremeXOS software supports only the PWid type FEC. The Generalized ID FEC type is currently not supported.

Note

MPLS PWs can also be configured with statically assigned labels.
