In addition to the regular fixed ports, all 5420 Series switches have two SFP-DD Universal Ethernet ports that are reserved for advanced features (factory default). You can also use these ports as regular ports if you do not require these advanced features. For more information about using the advanced-feature-bandwidth-reservation boot flag to configure the functionality of these ports, see advanced-feature-bandwidth-reservation Boot Flag.
You can disable the advanced features on the 5420 Series and use the SFP-DD Universal Ethernet ports as Ethernet ports. When used as Ethernet ports, each port accepts one SFP+ with 10 Gbps port speed. When you insert an SFP+ in SFP-DD Universal Ethernet ports, only the first port obtained after channelization can be used.
Front panel ports 1/1-1/28, 1/29/1, and 1/30/1 can be used for traffic on the following switches:
Ports 1/29/2 and 1/30/2 are blocked from traffic.
Front panel ports 1/1-1/52, 1/53/1, and 1/54/1 can be used for traffic on the following switches:
Ports 1/53/2 and 1/54/2 are blocked from traffic.

When the SFP-DD split DAC is used, SFP-DD ports can accept two SFP+ with 10 Gbps port speed and the first and second ports obtained after channelization can be used for traffic.
