Static Configuration

With a statically configured VXLAN device, the following are configured.:

Local virtual tunnel endpoint (local VTEP) IP address
{Logical-switch, VNI, VLAN} 3-tuple associations
{Logical-switch, remote virtual tunnel endpoint (remote VTEP)} associations

Traditional flooding, learning and ARP resolution populates the MAC and ARP databases. The VXLAN ARP Proxy feature reduces the need to always forward ARPs across the VXLAN overlay (see VXLAN Address Resolution/Neighbor Discovery Protocol (ARP/ND) Proxy). If the IP address/MAC binding is known to the gateway, it responds to the requester with an ARP reply.
