Upgrade the LRM/MACsec Adapter PHY Firmware

Only 5720-VIM-6YE supports the LRM/MACsec Adapter.

Update the PHY firmware if the running version is out-of-date. The latest version of firmware is bundled with the Network Operating System (NOS) image.

About this task

The upgrade process can take up to 10 minutes to complete. After completion, the adapter restarts and reinitializes.

As with regular switch ports, configuration is based on the optics detected. For information about how to configure VIM port speeds, see Configure Port Speeds for All VIM Ports (CLI) or Configure Port Speed for All VIM Ports (EDM).

Procedure

  1. Enter Global Configuration mode:

    enable

    configure terminal

  2. Confirm if an upgrade is required:

    show sys lrm-adapter

    Note

    Note

    After you first connect the adapter, the switch also displays a log message if the firmware is out-of-date.
  3. Upgrade the firmware:

    sys lrm-adapter-upgrade <0-32>

Examples

The following example shows the console message that indicates an upgrade is required, and then the command to perform the upgrade. After you connect the adapter, the adapter ID displays in the log message that indicates you must perform a firmware upgrade. Use this adapter ID as part of the upgrade command.
