DHCP Fundamentals

The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) simplifies network management by eliminating the need to have an administrator assign IP addresses manually to each client. A DHCP server assigns IP addresses to clients in the local network automatically from a preconfigured pool of addresses.
