Enable MSDP
Enable or disable MSDP globally on the switch to permit further configuration to take place.
Before you begin

You must configure the originator ID before you enable MSDP.

To perform this procedure on a non-default VRF, you must first change the VRF instance. For information about how to use EDM for a non-default VRF, see Select and Launch a VRF Context View. All parameters might not be available in non-default VRFs.
Procedure
- In the navigation pane, expand .
- Select MSDP.
- Select the Globals tab.
- Select Enabled to enable MSDP.
- Select Apply.
Globals Field Descriptions
Use the data in the following table to use the Globals tab.

Enabled |
Enables MSDP. The default is clear (disabled). |
CacheLifetime |
Configures the lifetime given to SA cache entries when created or refreshed. |
NumSACacheEntries |
Displays the total number of entries in the SA cache. |
RPAddress |
Specifies the IP address to use as the originator ID. If the address is not a system local address, the system rejects the configuration. |
RouteMapName |
Specifies the name of the optional route policy to create or modify. You do not need to create a route policy to use the redistribution filter. Note:
To delete the route map name, clear the field and select Apply. |
RedistributeFilterEnabled |
Filters the (S,G,RP) entries provided by PIM to MSDP. The default is clear (disabled). |
RedistruteFilterApply |
Applies the changes made to the redistribute filter. |
StatsClear |
Clears MSDP statistics. |
