Configure the DHCP Server Globally

Configure DHCP global parameters for the hosted DHCP Server. Configure only the parameters that apply to your deployment.

About this task

It is not mandatory to configure all of the parameters at the global level. You can also apply many of these parameters to specific subnets or hosts.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, expand Configuration > IP.
  2. Select DHCP Server.
  3. Select the Global tab.
  4. In HA Role, select the role to apply to this switch.
  5. In HA Peer Ip, type the IPv4 address of the peer switch.
  6. In Lease Duration, type the lease expiration timer in seconds.
  7. In TFTP Server Ip, type the IPv4 address of the TFTP server to advertise on all subnets.
  8. In TFTP Server Name, type the server name for the TFTP sever.
  9. In TFTP Bootfile Name, type the boot image file name for the TFTP server.
  10. Select Authoritative if you want to assign this server as an authoritative server.
  11. In NetBios Type, select the option that matches the node type.
  12. In NetBios Server Ip, type the IPv4 address of the NetBIOS server.
  13. In Domain Name, type the domain name.
  14. Select Apply.

Global Field Descriptions

Use the data in the following table to use the Global tab.

Name Description
Enabled

Specifies that the DHCP Server is enabled on the switch. By default, DHCP Server is disabled.

HA Role

Specifies the role of this switch in a DHCP Server High Availability (HA) pairing. In an HA pair, one server must be primary and the other must be secondary. Select one of the following options:

  • Default—The HA Role is assigned automatically. By default, the switch with the lower IP address is primary.

  • Primary—This switch provides a DHCP service while DHCP Server is active.

  • Secondary—This switch provides a DHCP service only when the primary switch is down.

HA Peer Ip Specifies the IPv4 address of the peer switch in the HA pair.
Lease Duration Specifies the global lease duration timer in seconds. The default is 86400.
TFTP Server Ip Specifies the IPv4 address of the TFTP server for the DHCP Server.
TFTP Server Name Specifies the server name of the TFTP server for the DHCP Server.
TFTP Bootfile Name Specifies the file name of the TFTP boot image for the DHCP Server.
Authoritative Assigns the DHCP Server as authoritative. The default setting is non-authoritative.
NetBios Type

Specifies the global NetBIOS node type. Select one of the following:

  • B-Node
  • P-Node
  • M-Node
  • H-Node
NetBios Server Ip

Specifies the IPv4 address of the global NetBIOS server.

Domain Name

Specifies the DHCP server domain name.
