HAL.IPv4Adj.L3TblFull

Description

The attempt to add a local IPv4 unicast host to hardware only fails if the number of existing hosts exceeds the hardware capacity times two. Note that any IPv4 unicast packet without an associated hardware forwarding entry will be slowpath forwarded. This message will be logged at most 1 time per hour when new IPv4 unicast local host forwarding entries trigger this condition.

Remedy

The CLI command "show iproute reserved-entries statistics" can be used to display the various IP resources currently in hardware, and the theoretical maximum for each hardware product type. Since the capacity has been exceeded, consider altering the network design, or using a different product type with higher capacity. An associated debug-summary severity message "HAL.IPv4Adj.L3TblFullEnt" can be enabled to view per-occurrence details including the IP address. In addition, "debug hal show ipv4adj" and "debug hal show ipv4adj slot N" can be used to determine which IP unicast forwarding entries were not added to hardware. Any entry in this display without the "S" Setup flag is not currently programmed in hardware.
