The NTP client sends an NTP request packet per poll interval (Default:64 seconds) to the NTP server(server, peer, or local reference clock) and waits for an NTP response packet. If there is no response for last 8 trials (one trial per pool interval), the NTP server is recognized as unreachable. When the NTP server is in the unreachable status and an NTP client receives an NTP response packet from the NTP server, the NTP server is considered as reachable from the NTP client system.
