disable learning {drop-packets | forward-packets} port [port_list | all]

Description

Disables MAC address learning on one or more ports for security purposes.

Syntax Description

drop-packets

Specifies that packets with unknown source MAC addresses be dropped. When disable learning is configured, this is the default behavior.

forward-packets

Specifies that packets with unknown source MAC addresses be forwarded.

port

Specifies the port.

port_list

Specifies one or more ports or slots and ports.

all

Specifies all ports and slots.

Default

Enabled.

Usage Guidelines

Use this command in a secure environment where access is granted via permanent forwarding databases (FDBs) per port.

Example

The following command disables MAC address learning on port 4 on a switch:

disable learning ports 4
