Description
Configures a password for the specified account, either user account or administrative account.
Syntax Description
all | Specifies all accounts (and future users). |
name | Specifies an account name. |

Usage Guidelines
You must create a user or administrative account before you can configure that account with a password.
Use the create account command to create a user account.
The system prompts you to specify a password after you enter this command. You must enter a password for this command; passwords cannot be null and cannot include the following characters: “<“, “>”, and “?”.

Note
Once you issue this command, you cannot have a null password. However, if you want to have a null password (that is, no password on the specified account), use the create account command.Passwords can have a minimum of 0 character and can have a maximum of 32 characters. Passwords are case-sensitive. User names are not case-sensitive.

Note
If the account is configured to require a specific password format, the minimum is 8 characters. See configure account password-policy char-validation for more information.You must have administrator privileges to change passwords for accounts other than your own.
Example
The following example defines a new password green for the account marketing:
configure account marketing
The switch responds with a password prompt:
password: green
Your keystrokes will not be echoed as you enter the new password. After you enter the password, the switch will then prompt you to reenter it:
Reenter password: green
Assuming you enter it successfully a second time, the password is now changed.
