Configuring Rate Limits

About this task

Configure the rate limit of broadcast or multicast packets to determine the total bandwidth limit on the port.

Procedure

  1. On the Device Physical View, select a port or multiple ports.
  2. In the navigation pane, expand the Configuration > Edit > Port folders.
  3. Click General.
  4. Click the Rate Limiting tab.
  5. Configure the parameters as required.
  6. Click Apply.

Name

Description

Index

The port number.

TrafficType

The type of traffic being rate limited, either broadcast or multicast traffic. The default is broadcast.

AllowedRatePps

This variable is the allowed traffic rate limit for the port in packets per second.

1 to 25 configures the limit in a percentage of the total bandwidth on the port from 1–25 percent.

On gigabit ports and MDAs, there can be up to a 2 percent difference between the configured and actual rate limiting values.

1–65535 configures the limit in packets for each second.

Enable

Double-click in the field and select to enable (True) or disable (False) rate limiting. The default is false.
