set bonding mode (S-Series)

Use this command to set the VSB interconnect port bonding mode.

Syntax

set bonding mode {hard | soft}

Parameters

hard Specifies that the interconnect port used is an S180 dedicated hardware VSB fabric extended interconnect port.
soft Specifies that the interconnect port used is a standard software assisted Ethernet data port. (Default)

Defaults

The default bonding mode is soft.

Mode

All command modes.

Usage

Newer version modules have either built in or the ability to install an option module that contains dedicated hardware VSB interconnect ports. Ports used for VSB interconnection for S- K- and 7100-Series modules that do not have this capability are standard software assisted Ethernet data ports. The bonding mode specifies whether the interconnect port used for the VSB configuration is hardware or software.

The VSB system must operating in the V2 compatibility mode to use the S180 dedicated hardware VSB interconnect ports. set chassis compatibility-mode (S-Series) for compatibility mode command details.

Use the hard keyword when interconnecting VSB chassis using dedicated hardware interconnect ports. Use the soft keyword when interconnecting VSB chassis using standard Ethernet data ports.

Example

This example sets the VSB bonding mode to hard for an S180 using the dedicated VSB hardware interconnect port for interconnection between VSB bonded chassis:

System(rw)->set bonding mode hard
